MEET HERO: Drew from SOUL SURRENDER by Katana Collins

Welcome to RWA/NYC’s Hero Blog Tour.

We are interviewing Heroes from New York’s Romance Authors.  You met their Leading Ladies last month.  We know you’ll fall in love with each of these heroes.  We did!

Q:  We have to know – boxers or briefs?
Boxer briefs. When I bother at all.

Q:  Where do you work and what kind of car do you drive?
I own a coffee shop in Vegas and drive a Blazer.

Q:  Have you ever posed for a Male Calendar?  Would you? If so, what month would you be and why?
Um, no. And only if Monica begged me.

Q:  Tell us your story.
Well, Monica and I have known each other for a long time. Years, in fact. She walked into the cafe one random day years ago and ordered a caramel mocha latte. I'd never had a request for that before, but figured out how to make it along the way. And by the time she left, she had a job with me. I've always known there was something different about her. And not just your typical quirkiness. For years, I tried to ask her out. Tried to get her to agree to a date or anything that could be construed as such. And for years she turned me down. And of course, as Murphy's Law dictates, the second I met someone else, it looked like whatever was holding Monica back had shifted. She wants to be with me—even if she's not letting herself for whatever reason. But what I now have to figure out is just how far I'm willing to go to be with her.

Q:  What was the first thing you noticed about the Heroine?
Her smile. And her laugh. They're one in the same. I don't know that I've ever seen her smile without hearing her laugh—even if the chuckle is only in my head.

Q:  Describe her looks.
She's tall enough that her cheek lands on my shoulder when we hug. She's got blond, long hair that's wavy, blue eyes. She's svelte, but muscular. And I don't doubt that she could kick my ass at any second.

Q: Is the Heroine a sweetheart or a vixen?  Does she help or hinder you?
She does everything she can to come off as a vixen, but she's a sweetheart. Despite what she'll try to convince you of. If it's possible, I think she both helps and hinders me in different areas of life. She's good for me. Wants nothing but the best, but she offers temptations that I had long ago given up. And having an addictive personality means that I can also get addicted to people.

Q:  Do you believe in Happy Ever After or Happy Right Now?
Well, you can have a happily ever after as long as you know there are gonna be ups and downs within that definition.

Q:  Who’s your favorite superhero – Captain America, Superman, Iron Man, Batman?
I've always been partial to Batman.

Q:  Describe your author.
Katana Collins splits her time evenly between photographing boudoir portraits and writing steam-your-glasses romances. Between navigating life as a small business owner, a first-time homeowner, and a newlywed, Katana is in a constant state of "OHMYGODINEEDCOFFEENOW."
She is the author of the Soul Stripper trilogy and the yet to debut Wicked Exposure (erotic suspense) series. Her first graphic novel, Cafe Racer, (co-written with Sean Murphy) will be coming out in early summer, 2014.
She lives in Brooklyn with her comic book artist husband and ever-growing family of rescue animals. She can usually be found hunched over her laptop, in a cafe, guzzling gallons of coffee, and wearing fabulous (albeit sometimes impractical) shoes.♥
