The house looked as if it had been carved out
of the mountain itself, with rough-hewn stone walls, a wide wooden plank porch,
and dark green roof shingles that seemed to blend into the surrounding pines
that towered around the clearing.
It was dark, and she found herself anxious
for the morning so she could putter around and see more of this place that Hud
claimed to love. On the drive he’d called it his escape to reality.
“Don’t you mean escape from reality?”
“Nope. This place is real. It’s all the rest
that’s all smoke and mirrors.”
His comment made her think.
He walked around the car and draped an arm over
her shoulder, holding his huge duffle effortlessly in his other hand. “Come on.
Let’s get inside and get comfy.”
The City heat had been stifling, and after a
full day’s work, even in the cool of the mountains, she felt sticky and looked
longingly at the water. “Can we have a quick swim? It would feel so nice to
feel cool.”
“Sure thing. One caveat though.” His voice
had taken on that feral quality that said he was thinking naughty thoughts. Her
flesh began to throb in response.
“Caveat?”
“Two words: Skinny. Dipping. That way I can
get my hands on that wet flesh of yours.”
She almost sighed. Were they back? The double
entendre sparked flames that licked at her libido. And his voice, the tone of
command that never failed to force her to a level of arousal almost painful to
endure. Especially after a week of abstinence had
left her craving his rough touch.
“Yes, Sir.” She breathed the words in the
still of the night and watched his eyes narrow. The look of a predator who’s
just spotted his prey.♥
