PAPER
DOLLS
with Maria
Ferrer
Good
morning. Happy Monday.
Years
ago, along with one of our Founding Mothers Kathryn Hayes, we gave a talk about
Paper Dolls. We ripped out pages from
magazines of couples in different scenarios to brainstorm character sketches
and scenes.
These weekly
Paper Dolls are a quick exercise, a writing prompt. Look at the photo, the characters, the
background.
QUICK.
Who are
they? Name, profession?
Who are
they to each other? Married? Siblings? BFFs?
What are
they doing? Give them a why.
What
genre are you thinking of? Contemporary, historical? Sweet? Sexy? Horror?!
You get
the picture. (Pun intended.)
So look at the Paper Doll and write a quick character sketch, or what you think the scene is about. Please post in the comment section.
See you next Monday for the next Paper Doll. Happy Writing.♥
Maria
Ferrer has always loved playing with Paper Dolls. They stimulate her creativity.
She loves imagining who is in the photo and why. Sometimes it’s the girl next
door or the killer around the corner or the lovebirds at the airport. All great
scenarios. All great writing prompts. And practice makes perfect….she hopes.
