HELL’S KITCHEN RESCUE
By A.C. Thomas

We entered the room, which was large enough and done all in blacks grays and whites.

It had a big bay window overlooking the ocean which was about a block away. The sea was all gray-green and the waves were rolling in. Out in the distance I could see a tanker plying the waves. You could barely make out Coney Island in the distance, but it was really only a faraway smudge. So, I just stood there looking out.

Then I heard of pop and jumped.

“Jesus Christ, Brian, what was that?!” I asked. and as I turned, and there he was holding a bottle of champagne which spurted over one hand, and two stemmed glasses in his other hand.

“Champagne?”

Surprised, I said, “Well, why not?”

I took the bottle from his hand and the glasses and said, “I’ll pour.” Then I looked at the label said, “Holy Christ, Brian, this is Veuve Cliquot. Rosé. You’ve got expensive taste.”

Obviously he’d called ahead and planned this to be in the room when we arrived.

He blushed slightly and took the glass which I’d poured. We clicked glasses and took a sip. Then I don’t know what happened. The next thing I know we were kissing, and then we were on the bed rolling around. I guess at some point we put the glasses out of harm’s way, but I can’t remember doing that.###
